He was the opposition leader in a country of 37 million people, one of the most stable and prosperous democracies on the continent. Initially, he wasn’t the favored candidate to run against the President, seeking the second term. However, in August 2006 his candidacy received an enormous boost, thanks to the strong help of a U.S. Senator, who spent 6 days actively campaigning on his behalf across the country. Then, in December 2007 election came, and he lost it by more than 230,000 votes. He didn’t like the result and accused the government of fraud. Hours after the election results were announced, machete-armed mobs of his supporters (predominantly Muslims) went on a broad rampage against the supporters of the government party (predominantly Christians). They burned homes and businesses, raped women and slaughtered everyone on their path. The country was thrown into its worst political crisis of the last half century, bearing all the signs of a well orchestrated genocide. Eventually, the government was pushed into negotiations — at the cost of over 1,500 lives, 600,000 displaced people and 35 women and children who were locked up in a church and burnt alive.
Today he is occupies the newly created post of Prime Minister, sharing power with the President. His name is Raila Odinga, the country he leads is Kenya, and if you don’t care about Kenyan internal affairs, you should. Because the name of the U.S. Senator who gave him that ultimate boost was Barack Obama.
It was Sen. Obama who — at taxpayers’ expense — in August 2006 spent 6 days in Kenya, going from a rally to a rally, praising Odinga and sharply criticizing Kenyan government. In his signature style he was cheering up one crowd after another, telling them: “Kenyans are now yearning for change”. During these six days he received more media attention than Kenyan President, alienated the elected government to the degree that the government spokesman called him a “stooge to Odinga” in BBC interview, excited many screaming crowds — and left the country, having secured Odinga’s candidacy as the opposition leader.
The story doesn’t end there. It gets worse. As it turned out, in August 2007 Odinga (who graduated from East Germany’s Magdeburg University in 1970 on a scholarship provided by the East German government) had signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” with Kenya’s Muslim leaders, promising certain broad changes in exchange of their support. To put what you’re about to read in perspective, you have to realize that Muslims constitute 10% of the largely Christian population of Kenya. In this document, Odinga promised among other things, to recognize “Islam as the only true religion,” to give Islamic leaders an “oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions [emphasis in original],” establish within a year Shariah court in every Kenyan region, and to ban Christian preaching on national broadcaster. The document also included explicit promises to disband Anti-Terror Police Unit that Kenyan government had formed to collaborate with the U.S. on anti-terrorist activities, and a promise that no Muslim, whether a citizen or a visitor, should be subjected to any process involving the laws of a foreign country (in particular any Muslim arrested for or suspected of Terrorism). In other words, Odinga explicitly promised to turn Kenya into in a safe haven for Islamic terrorism. The full text of this memorandum gives even better idea of change that Odinga planned to bring to Kenya.

The media that in 2006 paid unusually high attention to Sen. Obama’s trip to Africa, has been as unusually silent about the trip’s impact on Kenya (with some notable exceptions such as Washington Times and New York Sun).
Many bloggers have written about it, but neither Newsweek that back in 2006 reported that Sen. Obama “was received in a manner more befitting a messiah than a junior senator bearing nothing more than opinions and good cheer” nor the Washington Post, which around the same time reported that “the U.S. senator has already become the country’s most prominent ‘citizen’” have said a word about the boost Sen. Obama gave to Odinga. The trip, which before the crisis had been used for stunningly propagandistic materials such as Senator Obama Goes To Africa video, immediately lost its appeal to the media once supporters of the man so vehemently backed by Sen. Obama, went on a killing rampage. This doesn’t mean you have to be silent about it too. In fact, it means the opposite.
And what was the theme of Raila Odinga’s campaign? It was “Vote for Change“. His motto? “Your Agent for Change”. Sounds familiar?

As American citizens we are outraged at the failure of the Press to report pertinent facts surrounding the candidate Barack Obama and this and other associations, and believe that on the eve of our elections, this gross censorship may have placed our Democratic government and Natiional Security in “Clear and Present Danger.”

the US Embassy attack. Fazul Abdullah Mohammed is believed to be the
mastermind of the first Al-Qaida attack on a US target.

The Petition to Impeach Senator Obama site has an addendum that
addresses Obama’s ties to Kenya and Raila Odinga as well as Obama’s
visit to Kenya in 2006. This is from the petition:

involvement with the clandestine Kenya Revolutionary Movement and for
facilitating travel to Libya for Kenyans seeking to get military
training under Colonel Muammar Qaddafi.”

the growth of Islamic states worldwide. Jonsson also sees a direct tie
between the “Change” themes of the Obama presidential campaign in the
United States and the senator’s support of Odinga’a Islamic goals in
East Africa. “Real Change for Africa” was perhaps not coincidentally
the theme of Raila Odinga’s 2007 presidential campaign.”
“By supporting Odinga, Senator Obama is also seen in Kenya as siding
with the extreme left wing of Kenyan politics, going back to the overt
communism of Odinga Odinga. Odinga’s current party, the Orange
Democratic Movement, or ODM, is a leftist-socialist political party
that stops short of being openly communist.”
“We have to ask whether Obama, by supporting Odinga openly in Kenya,
lent his name also to endorse Odinga’s leftist politics and Odinga’s
alliance with radical Muslims pushing Islam in Kenya.”

Reverend Manning has a new video ( a must see), claiming the only possibility of stopping Obama is to boycott the Obama money machine, starting with CNN.
This is an alarming statement from Manning, given his wide range knowledge of Obama, as he states that all efforts to divert his public support have not succeeded. Americans he claims are not interested in his lack of experience, his corrupt affiliations, etc. Have a look.

Obama’s time in Kenya, campaigning for his cousin, is a violation of the Logan Act and should be reported and he should be removed from office and denied any further involvement in US politics as a result.

About 50 parishioners were locked into the Assemblies of God church before it was set ablaze. They were mostly women and children. Those who tried to flee were hacked to death by machete-wielding members of a mob numbering 2,000.
The 2008 New Year Day atrocity in the Kenyan village Eldoret, about 185 miles northwest of Nairobi, had all the markings of the Rwanda genocide of a decade earlier.
By mid-February 2008, more than 1,500 Kenyans were killed. Many were slain by machete-armed attackers. More than 500,000 were displaced by the religious strife. Villages lay in ruin. Many of the atrocities were perpetrated by Muslims against Christians.
The violence was led by supporters of Raila Odinga, the opposition leader who lost the Dec. 27, 2007, presidential election by more than 230,000 votes. Odinga supporters began the genocide hours after the final election results were announced Dec. 30. Mr. Odinga was a member of Parliament representing an area in western Kenya, heavily populated by the Luo tribe, and the birthplace of Barack Obama’s father.
Mr. Odinga had the backing of Kenya’s Muslim community heading into the election. For months he denied any ties to Muslim leaders, but fell silent when Sheik Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, appeared on Kenya television displaying a memorandum of understanding signed on Aug. 29, 2007, by Mr. Odinga and the Muslim leader. Mr. Odinga then denied his denials.
The details of the MOU were shocking. In return for Muslim backing, Mr. Odinga promised to impose a number of measures favored by Muslims if he were elected president. Among these were recognition of “Islam as the only true religion,” Islamic leaders would have an “oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions [emphasis in original],” installation of Shariah courts in every jurisdiction, a ban on Christian preaching, replacement of the police commissioner who “allowed himself to be used by heathens and Zionists,” adoption of a women’s dress code, and bans on alcohol and pork.
This was not Mr. Odinga’s first brush with notoriety. Like his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the main opposition leader in the 1960s and 1970s, Raila Odinga is a Marxist He graduated from East Germany’s Magdeburg University in 1970 on a scholarship provided by the East German government. He named his oldest son after Fidel Castro.
Raila Odinga was implicated in the bloody coup attempt in 1982 against then-President Daniel Arap Moi, a close ally of the United States. Kenya has been one of the most stable democracies in Africa since the 1960s. The ethnic cleansing earlier this year was the worst violence in Kenya since that 1982 coup attempt.
Mr. Odinga spent eight years in prison. At the time, he denied guilt but later detailed he was a coup leader in his 2006 biography. Statue of limitations precluded further prosecution when the biography appeared.
Initially, Mr. Odinga was not the favored opposition candidate to stand in the 2007 election against President Mwai Kibaki, who was seeking his second term. However, he received a tremendous boost when Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Kenya in August 2006 to campaign on his behalf. Mr. Obama denies that supporting Mr. Odinga was the intention of his trip, but his actions and local media reports tell otherwise.
Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama were nearly inseparable throughout Mr. Obama’s six-day stay. The two traveled together throughout Kenya and Mr. Obama spoke on behalf of Mr. Odinga at numerous rallies. In contrast, Mr. Obama had only criticism for Kibaki. He lashed out against the Kenyan government shortly after meeting with the president on Aug. 25. “The [Kenyan] people have to suffer over corruption perpetrated by government officials,” Mr. Obama announced.
“Kenyans are now yearning for change,” he declared. The intent of Mr. Obama’s remarks and actions was transparent to Kenyans - he was firmly behind Mr. Odinga.
Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama had met several times before the 2006 trip. Reports indicate Mr. Odinga visited Mr. Obama during trips to the U.S. in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mr. Obama sent his foreign policy adviser Mark Lippert to Kenya in early 2006 to coordinate his summer visit. Mr. Obama’s August trip coincided with strategizing by Orange Democratic Movement leaders to defeat Mr. Kibaki in the upcoming elections. Mr. Odinga represented the ODM ticket in the presidential race.
Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama’s father were both from the Luo community, the second-largest tribe in Kenya, but their ties run much deeper. Mr. Odinga told a stunned BBC Radio interviewer the reason why he and Mr. Obama were staying in near daily telephone contact was because they were cousins. In a Jan. 8, 2008, interview, Mr. Odinga said Mr. Obama had called him twice the day before while campaigning in the New Hampshire primary before adding, “Barack Obama’s father is my maternal uncle.”
President Kibaki requested a meeting of all opposition leaders in early January in an effort to quell the violence. All agreed to attend except Mr. Odinga. A month later, Mr. Kibaki offered Mr. Odinga the role of prime minister, the de facto No. 2 in the Kenyan government, in return for an end to the attacks. Mr. Odinga was sworn in on April 17, 2008.
Mr. Obama’s judgment is seriously called into question when he backs an official with troubling ties to Muslim extremists and whose supporters practice ethnic cleansing and genocide. It was Islamic extremists in Kenya who bombed the U.S. Embassy in 1998, killing more than 200 and injuring thousands. None of this has dissuaded Mr. Obama from maintaining disturbing loyalties.

I found it hard to believe Obama is truthful because there’s alot of stuff about him that make some people are very concern for a person who wanted become a president. He lied that he voted aganst the law that save babies from the filed abortion attempt, lied about the church what he is attending buy the same man who preched hate, lied abot his befrended with some terrioist who said it is okey that to have 911 and they (the terrioists) should do more, and assume his connections wth ACORN,(an oragnization who is now have a voting frund scandal). I will not vote for him because he is NOT truthful and he is NOT to be trusted to become a president.

ALBUQUERQUE The chairwoman of an Otero County Republican women's group on Tuesday defended a letter to the editor in which she wrote, ''I believe Muslims are our enemies.''
Marcia Stirman, a 56-year-old interior decorator, also called Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama ''a Muslim socialist.''
A national Islamic group expressed outrage over Stirman's letter and called on state and national Republican Party officials to repudiate the publication of ''anti-Muslim comments.''
''Because these hate-filled remarks were made by a prominent Republican, it is incumbent on state and national GOP officials to repudiate her divisive and intolerant views,'' said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Officials with the Republican Party of New Mexico had no immediate comment.
The letter ran Tuesday in the Alamogordo Daily News. It was titled ''Why I'm a Republican'' and listed 16 reasons for her party affiliation.
The list ends with Stirman saying Obama is ''a Muslim socialist.'' She also wrote, ''I believe war is a fact of life and we should always win.''
Stirman told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that she was surprised by reaction to her letter, which she said included support from all over the country. She wrote it after the newspaper recently published another reader's letter titled ''Why I'm a Democrat.''
Asked for a response to Awad's concerns, she said of Muslims: ''I don't trust them at all. They've sworn across the world that they are our enemies. Why we're trying to elect one is beside me.''
Obama's Kenyan father was Muslim, but Obama grew up in a Christian family. Although he has professed his Christianity repeatedly and explained how his Christian faith shapes his politics, he has battled Internet-fueled rumors throughout the campaign that he is Muslim.
Stirman said she carefully considered what she wrote in the letter, refused to apologize and defended her right to express her views.
''I still have freedom of speech and an opinion. If the Islamic group doesn't like it, well, I don't like what's going on in their camp, either,'' Stirman said.

The Pennsylvania Democrat who has sued Sen. Barack Obama demanding he prove his American citizenship – and therefore qualifications to run for the office of president – has confirmed he has a recording of a telephone call from the senator's paternal grandmother confirming his birth in Kenya.
The issue of Obama's birthplace, which he states is Honolulu in 1961, has been raised enough times that his campaign website has posted an image purporting to be of his "Certification of Live Birth" from Hawaii.
But Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney general
for Pennsylvania, told the Michael Savage talk radio program tonight that the document is forged, a publicized newspaper notice announcing Obama's birth in Honolulu could have been faked and he has a tape recording he will be releasing over the next few days.
"This has been a real sham he's pulled off for the last 20 months," Berg told Savage. "I'll release it [the tape] in a day or two, affidavits from her talking to a certain person. I heard the tape. She was speaking [to someone] here in the United States."
He said the telephone call was from Obama's paternal grandmother affirming she "was in the delivery room in Kenya when he was born Aug. 4, 1961."
Berg said he's pursuing the issue because of "the most important document in the United States," the U.S. Constitution.
"Nothing is more important than enforcing the Constitution," he said. "The Constitution's provisions are very small for qualifying for president. One, be over 35, and he is. Two, be in the country 14 years and he has been. Three, be a natural-born citizen. He is not."
Obama campaign officials acknowledged the dispute by posting the image purporting to be a copy of his certification of live birth earlier this year. But they've declined to return WND requests for comment on the issues.
WND reported earlier this week how Obama has legally "admitted" the accusations included in Berg's lawsuit, including that he was born in Mombosa, Kenya, by not responding to the allegations.
Berg filed suit in U.S. District Court in August alleging Obama is not a natural-born citizen and is thus ineligible to serve as president of the United States.
His case is demanding that the courts verify Obama's original birth certificate.
Berg has cited Rule 36 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which states that unless the accused party provides written answer or objection to charges within 30 days, the accused legally admits the matter.
Since Obama filed only motions to dismiss the case and did not actually answer the claims, stated Berg, who has taken his information public through his website, according to Rule 36, Obama has legally admitted he is not a natural-born citizen.
The birth certificate image is on Obama's website, and the newspaper notice is featured on the Atlasshrugs2000 website.
That reportedly comes from a librarian in Hawaii who obtained the announcement from the archives.
However, Berg said the dates don't align, since the birth apparently happened on Aug. 4, 1961, it was registered on Aug. 8 and the newspaper announcement was Aug. 13.
Berg explained to Savage he believes Obama's mother was near pregnancy and unable to travel by plane, so Obama was born in Kenya, the family then traveled to Hawaii and registered the birth and submitted the newspaper announcement.
Besides Berg's lawsuit, several other court challenges also have been assembled, including one in Washington State where petitioners are seeking to have the Washington Secretary of State "verify Obama's eligibility" to serve prior to the election.
That claim states, "The 'certificate' that Mr. Obama has posted on his official Website is a 'Certification of Live Birth,' and not a 'Birth Certificate' from Hawaii. There is no indication on even this certificate as to specifically where the birth took place."
Berg also told Savage there is no information available on which hospital Obama's mother used in Hawaii.
The Washington state case also alleges, "Wayne Madsen, Journalist with Online Journal as a contributing writer and published an article on June 9, 2008, stating that a research team went to Mombassa, Kenya, and located a Certificate Registering the birth of Barack Obama, Jr. at a Kenya Maternity Hospital, to his father, a Kenyan citizen and his mother, a U.S. citizen.
When Jerome Corsi, senior WND investigator reporter, recently traveled to Kenya to investigate several questions about the candidate, he was told the records were sealed and would not be made available.
Though it hasn't given Berg the evidence he seeks, the Obama campaign has publicly answered allegations that the candidate was born in Kenya and faked his Hawaii birth certificate.
"Smears claiming Barack Obama doesn't have a birth certificate aren't actually about that piece of paper," says the "Fight the Smears" section of Obama's website, "they're about manipulating people into thinking Barack is not an American citizen.
"The truth is, Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America," the campaign website states. It also includes images of the Hawaii certificate bearing the name Barack Hussein Obama II.
The Washington claim states, "If in fact Obama was born in Kenya, the laws on the books in the United States at the time of his birth stated if a child is born abroad and one parent was a U.S. Citizen, which would have been his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, Obama's mother would have had to live ten (10) years in the United States, five (5) of which were after the age of fourteen (14). At the time of Obama's birth, his mother was only eighteen (18) and therefore did not meet the residency requirements under the law to give her son (Obama) U.S. Citizenship much less the status of 'natural born.'"
Berg said he believed it also was a complication that Obama's mother divorced his father, married and moved to Indonesia for several years and Obama attended school there at a time when, Berg said, only Indonesia citizens were allowed in schools. Records that are available from Indonesia revealed Obama was registered in school as Barry Soetoro, and his religion was listed as Islam.
When Obama later returned to Hawaii, within the United States, there should have been a government document affirming his citizenship, but that also cannot be found. If that was not processed properly, Berg said, Obama would be in a situation even worse than not being a natural-born citizen.
"If he didn't go through immigration, he now is illegal and has been an illegal alien. He couldn't even hold the position of senator for Illinois," Berg said.
Further, Berg said he suspected Obama's college records may indicate he received aid as a foreigner, and that's why those records have been withheld by the campaign.
"I really think it's because it probably indicates he's from Kenya, or Indonesia, or received foreign aid," Berg said.
"I feel very confident saying these things," Berg told Savage.

WND senior investigative reporter Jerome Corsi, who recently returned from a trip to Kenya with revelations about Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's participation in a foreign nation's internal politics, now has been dispatched to Hawaii to uncover the truth of the senator's Hawaiian birth.
The issue has been raised multiple times during the 2008 presidential campaign, with a number of court cases already being launched that demand documentation about Obama's birth place. One prominent Pennsylvania Democrat, Philip Berg, has alleged that Obama was born not in Hawaii at all but in Kenya.
Corsi plans to be in Hawaii for several days to review the evidence and records in the dispute.
He was able to travel even though a chronic health condition landed him on his back following his Kenya trip, especially after he was detained by armed Kenyan soldiers and immigration officials for most of the last day he was in Nairobi, which prevented him from holding a news conference to discuss his discoveries there.

Corsi said he is working with medications that have partially relieved the pain and he's continuing his effort to discover the truth.
Corsi reported that when he was in Kenya he was told that Obama actually was born not in Honolulu but in Mombosa, on the Kenyan coast. He also said he was told by government officials there all those records were sealed and nothing could be released.

While in Nairobi Corsi obtained documentation linking Obama to the nation's prime minister, Raila Odinga, who was appointed to the position to stop a wave of violence by Muslim supporters.
Corsi went at the invitation of Christian missionaries who contend the rise of Islam in the African nation has been spurred by an agreement Odinga signed with Muslim leaders in an effort to win the presidency last December. Odinga lost but now shares power with the Kenyan president to appease Islamic leaders.
Corsi's highly critical book examining Obama's career, "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," remains on the New York Times best-seller list after its publication Aug. 1. The book was No. 1 on the list for four straight weeks after its launch.
In a chapter of "The Obama Nation" titled "Kenya, Odinga, Communism, and Islam," Corsi says Obama supported the candidacy of Odinga, a Luo tribesman like Obama's father, in the 2007 Kenyan presidential election, opposing current president Mwai Kibaki, a member of Kenya's largest tribe, the Kikuyu.
Corsi revealed that Obama not only campaigned for Odinga but raised almost $1 million during the run-up to that nation's 2007 presidential election, and Corsi also uncovered Odinga's written agreement with Muslim leaders stipulating that if they delivered him the Muslim vote, Odinga would in turn, once elected, change the constitution to declare Islamic law as the ruling authority in Muslim-dominated regions, protect terrorists and muzzle Christian evangelism.
Odinga was named prime minister in Kenya after his campaign called for protests of an election he lost by more than 200,000 votes to incumbent Mwai Kibaki. The resulting violence by marauding Muslim mobs left 1,000 people dead, hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes and 800 Christian churches damaged or destroyed. No Islamic mosques were damaged, however.
Among the worst attacks occurred when several dozen women and children sought refuge in a Christian church which mobs burned down on top of them.

JERUSALEM – Evidence has emerged that Sen. Barack Obama belonged to a socialist political party that sought to elect members to public office with the aim of moving the Democratic Party far leftward to ultimately form a new political party with a socialist agenda.
Several blogs, including Powerline, previously documented that while running for the Illinois state Senate
in 1996 as a Democrat, Obama actively sought and received the endorsement of the socialist-oriented New Party, with some blogs claiming Obama was a member of the controversial party.
The New Party, formed by members of the Democratic Socialists for America and leaders of an offshoot of the Community Party USA, was an electoral alliance that worked alongside the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The New Party's aim was to help elect politicians to office who espouse its policies.
Among New Party members was linguist and radical activist Noam Chomsky.
Obama's campaign has responded to the allegations, denying the presidential candidate was ever a member of the New Party.
But the New Zeal blog dug up print copies of the New Party News, the party's official newspaper, which show Obama posing with New Party leaders, list him as a New Party member and include quotes from him.
The party's Spring 1996 newspaper boasted: "New Party members won three other primaries this Spring in Chicago: Barack Obama (State Senate), Michael Chandler (Democratic Party Committee) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary). The paper quoted Obama saying "these victories prove that small 'd' democracy can work."
The newspaper lists other politicians it endorsed who were not members but specifies Obama as a New Party member.

New Ground, the newsletter of Chicago's Democratic Socialists for America, reported in its July/August 1996 edition that Obama attended a New Party membership meeting April 11, 1996, in which he expressed his gratitude for the group's support and "encouraged NPers (New Party members) to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration."
Becoming a New Party member requires some effort on behalf of the politician. Candidates must be approved by the party's political committee and, once approved, must sign a contract mandating they will have a "visible and active relationship" with the party.
The New Party, established in 1992, took advantage of what was known as electoral "fusion," which enabled candidates to run on two tickets simultaneously, attracting voters from both parties. But the New Party went defunct in 1998, one year after fusion was halted by the Supreme Court.
Following the initial reports of Obama's purported membership in the New Party, Obama associate and former Chicago New Party activist Carl Davidson posted a statement on several blogs claiming his former party was not socialist, but he admitted it worked with ACORN.
"[The New Party] was a pragmatic party of 'small d democracy' mainly promoting economic reforms like the living wage and testing the fusion tactic, common in many countries but only operational in New York in the U.S. The main trend within it was ACORN, an Alinskyist outfit, which is hardly Marxist," wrote Davidson.
But the socialist goals of the New Party were enumerated on its old website.
Among the New Party's stated objectives were "full employment, a shorter work week, and a guaranteed minimum income for all adults; a universal 'social wage' to include such basic benefits as health care, child care, vacation time, and lifelong access to education and training; a systematic phase-in of comparable worth and like programs to ensure gender equity."
The New Party stated it also sought "the democratization of our banking and financial system – including popular election of those charged with public stewardship of our banking system, worker-owner control over their pension assets, community-controlled alternative financial institutions."
Many of the New Party's founding members were Democratic Socialists for America leaders and members of Committees of Correspondence, a breakaway of the Communist Party USA. Obama attended several DSA events and meetings, including a DSA-sponsored town hall meeting Feb. 25, 1996, entitled "Employment and Survival in Urban America." He sought and received an endorsement from the DSA.
According to DSA documents, the New Party worked with ACORN to promote its candidates. ACORN, convicted in massive, nationwide voter fraud cases, has been a point of controversy for Obama over the presidential candidate's ties to the group.
In 1995, the DSA's New Ground newsletter stated, "In Chicago, the New Party's biggest asset and biggest liability is ACORN.
"Like most organizations, ACORN is a mixed bag. On one hand, in Chicago, ACORN is a group that attempts to organize some of the most depressed communities in the city. Chicago organizers for ACORN and organizers for SEIU Local 880 have been given modest monthly recruitment quotas for new New Party members. On the other hand, like most groups that depend on canvassing for fundraising, it's easy enough to find burned out and disgruntled former employees. And ACORN has not had the reputation for being interested in coalition politics – until recently and, happily, not just within the New Party."
